EXPLORING ISLAND OF VIS

Since the English occupation in 1812 onwards, the island itself has represented a destination for various military conquerors.

The military history of the island of Vis has definitely become a very intriguing topic for tourists and for those visitors who do not consider themselves as tourists anymore.

The missile military base Stupišće, the Barjoška bay, the Atomic War Command Vela glava, “New post” and the underwater base Jastog in the Parja bay, are only some of the numerous trip locations included in our offer. Besides the above mentioned, our trip offer also includes some natural and historical sites such as the chapel of Sv. Duh situated on the highest point of the island.

If you have ever wished to put on that boat captain hat and sail off, now is the time. Enjoy a full day of sailing lessons, lunch on a boat and maybe if you are lucky some shark spotting. This is surely an experience not to be missed.

Except for its ancient past, a few residues of stone fortresses dating from the period of English occupation, some traces of the Italian occupation and the reminiscence of the Battle of Vis, the recent history of the island tells us much more about it – a military fortress in the center of the Adriatic, the importance of which has been testified by the presence of more than thirty-eight military facilities, nowadays abandoned.

Depending on your wishes and affinities, the discovery tour could combine hiking and off road ride and could be also modified into an easy version for those who do not wish to hike. As can be concluded from its name, this trip also provides some wine tasting – an excellent way of getting acquainted with the island and with the wines that Vis is worldwide recognized and famous for.
